About The Position

The CAD Designer performs para-professional office and engineering tasks in support of various technical projects. Responsibilities may include drafting, project design, calculations, layout creation, quality control, and utilization of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools. Work assignments vary by experience level and may involve collaboration with engineering and project management staff.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Three (3) years of para-professional experience in drafting, design, or engineering support.
Experience with SolidWorks CAD software required.
Knowledge of engineering principles, terminology, and drafting practices.
Knowledge of CAD systems and techniques.
Knowledge of technical report writing and data analysis.
Knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Knowledge of time management, file organization, and documentation standards.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Ability to analyze data, make calculations, and solve design-related issues.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize digital and physical files per company procedures.
Ability to operate CAD software (SolidWorks) and standard office applications.
Ability to use measurement tools (e.g., tape measure, calipers) with accuracy.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree (minimum 60 semester units) in Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field preferred.
One (1) year of experience may be waived with an accredited associate's degree.

Responsibilities

Create, revise, and maintain detailed component and assembly drawings.
Support engineering teams in basic design tasks and calculations.
Draft instruction documents and assembly procedures and gather sample materials.
Conduct quality control checks and ensure compliance with design standards.
Interpret customer specifications and develop appropriate design responses.
Collaborate with engineering and project stakeholders to coordinate design requirements.
Prepare construction and zoning documentation for review and proposal development.
Perform analysis of mechanical components for stress and functionality.
Prepare "as-built" drawings and update layouts based on project needs.
Create spreadsheets, maintain databases, and generate basic reports.
Provide training on design applications under supervision.
Deliver technical presentations and assist in responding to plan check requirements.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Adhere to established procedures, company policies, and project guidelines.
Report to work on time and maintain regular attendance (Monday-Friday).
Perform other related duties as assigned.
