About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Design Manager to lead the creation and management of technical drawings for live events, including conventions, exhibitions, and sales conferences. This role is responsible for producing accurate 2D and 3D designs—such as seating layouts, stage configurations, and production elements—while also overseeing CAD systems, file structures, and internal standards. The ideal candidate is both a strong designer and an organized systems manager, capable of balancing multiple projects while maintaining high-quality output and efficient workflows.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience creating CAD drawings for events (corporate, live entertainment, or theater)
  • Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality technical drawings and project work
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD software (Vectorworks strongly preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management with the ability to meet deadlines across multiple projects
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Creative Team members, Producers, Technical Directors, and clients to develop technical drawings for event environments and experiences
  • Create clear, visually compelling 2D and 3D CAD drawings (e.g., floor plans, staging, seating layouts, production elements)
  • Manage all CAD software operations, including licensing, distribution, updates, and optimization
  • Oversee file organization, including project sharing systems and venue folder structures
  • Maintain and continuously improve the CAD symbol library to reflect current inventory and rental capabilities
  • Ensure all designs adhere to relevant safety standards, including national and local fire/building codes
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, providing timely updates and incorporating stakeholder feedback
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends
  • Manage and maintain all CAD software systems for the organization
  • Supervise and support additional CAD Draftsmen as the team grows
