About The Position

American Rail Engineers Corporation (ARE) is seeking a detail-oriented, technically skilled CAD Design Engineer to lead CAD functions within its Engineering Services team. The position will establish and maintain a consistent, scalable, quality-focused CAD environment supporting railroad bridge, culvert, track, and infrastructure projects. The CAD Design Engineer will train and guide engineers, EITs, and technical staff so project drawings meet ARE and client requirements. As CAD systems and workflows mature, the role may also take on railroad infrastructure design work under the direction of licensed professional engineers. Reporting to the Director of Engineering Services, the position leads the development and administration of ARE’s engineering CAD systems, standards, and quality-control processes, and serves as a key resource for drawing production across the organization. The role has a target project utilization rate of 75%. It includes occasional travel to project sites, client locations, and ARE offices, and requires maintaining railroad safety qualifications and complying with applicable safety requirements during site visits. The position offers flexible remote work in the United States, with an office in Overland Park, Kansas. ARE describes the opportunity as involving impactful infrastructure projects and collaboration with industry experts, with opportunities for professional growth and development.
