About The Position

We are hiring a CAD/CAM Technician to prepare CNC laser and fabrication jobs using Radan nesting software. This is not a software programming role and does not require knowledge of coding languages. The CAD/CAM Technician – CNC Laser Nesting will process orders and prepare CNC machine work, primarily using Radan software for nesting parts on metal sheets for laser cutting. The position may also use RadBend with SolidWorks for press brake programming if the candidate is proficient or becomes trained in those tools. This is primarily a sit-down, computer-based role with occasional visits to the production floor to check job status, verify parts, or support fabrication needs. Familiarity with CAD, drawings, DXFs, and manufacturing documentation is desired. The role focuses on accuracy, quality, order flow, and ensuring that CNC machines, especially the laser, remain stocked with ready-to-run work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CNC nesting, CAD/CAM software, or CNC machine preparation is preferred.
  • Experience with Radan, RadPunch, Striker CAD/CAM, or similar nesting/CAM software is preferred but not required for otherwise qualified candidates.
  • Familiarity with CAD, DXF files, blueprints, and SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Familiarity with G-code is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Process orders for CNC machines.
  • Prepare CNC laser work using Radan for nesting parts on metal sheets.
  • Use RadBend with SolidWorks for press brake programs if proficient or trained.
  • Ensure continuous flow of orders to keep the laser stocked.
  • Manage expedited parts, including solo sheets or insertion into open orders.
  • Read drawings and take or verify measurements to confirm part accuracy.
  • Check drawings against DXFs to help ensure correct parts are produced.
  • Maintain specifications by observing, taking measurements, detecting issues, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Support and assist the fabrication department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
