About The Position

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the senior-level CAD/CAM Technician will provide both high-level support and continuous improvement to the CAD/CAM department. Be an active member of the team that assists and advises in our critical front-end processes including quoting, special tooling requirements, and new product feasibility studies. Both manual experience and CAD/CAM based computer software experience, to provide programs and other critical details for CNC machines, create set up sheets and tooling sheets for the machine operators / tool crib. Maintain all programs accessible to each machine and control current program revisions on the shop floor.

Requirements

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of CAD/CAM experience on large CNC machine cutting equipment, including strong technical knowledge of machining processes and manual programming.
  • Experience in the machine tool industry including exposure to precision 2D machining.
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software programs and machining equipment, including Heidenhain and Fanuc controllers.
  • Experience on castings.
  • Ability to develop and disseminate information to other staff on processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical problem solving and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure to maintain production scheduling deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within timelines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive relationships with CAD/CAM software suppliers.
  • Maintain all customer engineering data and intellectual property at the correct revision level.
  • Maintain all engineering changes, repair proposals, and designs.
  • Preparation of CNC programs for CNC controls in relevant language for the controllers used at Concorde. This may include manual programming or changes at the machine.
  • Attend the machines for programming and fixture problem solving.
  • Attend and advise at internal kick off meetings (line up meetings) for new projects to ensure there is an understanding of the scope of the project.
  • Assist in ensuring that proper job data is presented to the floor and controlled.
  • Revise and improve the method that customer data is stored / saved on our network.
  • Assist in quoting cycle times when required.
  • Collaborate with the Tooling Supervisor to develop and maintain machine-specific tool databases, including material-based tool data.
  • Implement and manage a colour tolerance chart for all designs and shop floor diagrams.
  • Manage all shop floor programs and revisions.
  • Prioritize continuous improvement to identify and implement processes that will improve productivity, quality, profitability, and safety.
  • Follow all safety protocols as outlined in the Health and Safety program and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and work in a clean, safe and organized manner.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
