CAD/CAM Engineer

BOLLINGER MISSISSIPPI SHIPBUILDING LLCPascagoula, MS

About The Position

A CAD/CAM Engineer bridges the gap between engineering design and physical manufacturing. The role translates detailed models into highly precise 2D or 3D shop drawings, fabrication specs, and installation layouts for HVAC and industrial ductwork systems. They are critical of ensuring everything fits properly on the job site.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex architectural and mechanical/HVAC drawings.
  • A deep understanding of sheet metal forming, ductwork fittings, and standard HVAC manufacturing processes.
  • The ability to visualize spatial constraints and route ducts to avoid obstacles.
  • Clear verbal and written skills for running meetings and corresponding with field installers and fabricators.
  • Completion of 2 years of college-level coursework (equivalent to an AA degree) in Industrial Technology or a related discipline.
  • Equivalent experience/training will be considered in lieu of formal education.

Responsibilities

  • Generate 2D and 3D fabrication and installation drawings using CAD and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks).
  • Communicate and collaborate with workers, project managers, and other trades (plumbing, electrical) to resolve clashes and coordinate ductwork routes before manufacturing begins.
  • Create detailed "spool drawings," hanger layouts, and cut sheets that fabrication teams will use to physically bend and assemble the metal.
  • Determine the exact types (galvanized, aluminum, SST), gauges, and quantities of sheet metal needed.
  • Modify drawings to reflect construction changes, RFIs (Requests for Information), and actual field conditions (As-Builts).
  • Ensure all models and component designs meet project standards.
