About The Position

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Cactus Discovery Kids Program Director to join our team. This part-time role (20 hours per week) is responsible for fostering an engaging environment for children to grow in their faith. The Program Director will carry on the Vision, Mission, and Values of SBC, providing large group programming, activities, events, and volunteer recruitment for the Discovery Kids Ministry at the SBC Cactus campus. This role involves working with children from birth to 5th grade and requires a commitment to safety, spiritual growth, and team development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Christian Education or Childhood Development, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and protection of minors and vulnerable adults by understanding and complying with mandatory reporting laws, and training volunteers as needed.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of large group programming by presenting lessons provided by Discovery Kids on a weekly basis.
  • Create a fun and energetic environment to teach children about God and share the gospel.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train volunteers.
  • Assist with maintaining an attractive, clean, and welcoming appearance in the Discovery Kids areas.
  • Deploy children’s curriculum provided by the DK Creative Coordinator.
  • Enfold young families by introducing them, connecting them with the community, and encouraging their involvement.
  • Develop classroom and large group activities, coordinating with the Central Discovery Kids team for programming of Nursery through 5th grade lessons.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom checklist for supplies, safety, and ongoing furniture needs.
  • Partner with the DK team for VBS, including recruiting, mobilizing, placing, and communicating with volunteers.
  • Participate and serve during Cactus special events.
  • Assist in overseeing weekend programming at all levels to ensure volunteers can teach and minister to kids.
  • Act as a coach and troubleshoot safety concerns when they arise.
  • Coordinate with Central Communications and Creative team to create, print, and distribute promotional materials for Children’s events.
  • Communicate with the Web and Social Media team for event registrations.
  • Work during all Sunday services in addition to normal work hours.
  • Cast vision, build a team, and execute ministry in Discovery Kids Birth – 5th Grade.
  • Direct the recruitment, training, development, and care of Birth – 5th Grade leads, volunteers, and Jr. volunteers for weekend services and special events.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of events to develop community and connection within the volunteer team.
  • Ensure the Birth – 5th Grade ministry is fully staffed at all weekend services.
  • Oversee that the Birth – 5th Grade building and all included areas are clean, stocked, and organized.
  • Attend weekly Discovery Kids Staff meetings at the Shea campus and office there when needed.
  • Partner with the Central Security Team to ensure all established guidelines are in place.
  • Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
