About The Position

The IT Field Services Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of structured cabling systems and supporting infrastructure in a field environment. This role supports network and telecommunications services through hands‑on technical work and coordination with cross‑functional teams. The technician will perform both routine and non‑routine tasks with minimal supervision and will be expected to apply technical judgment to identify issues, determine solutions, and complete work efficiently and accurately.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of BICSI standards
  • Proven experience as a Cable Technician or Field Technician
  • Hands‑on experience terminating and certifying Cat6A cabling
  • Solid understanding of both copper and fiber optic cabling
  • Ability to navigate and interpret floor plans and infrastructure layouts
  • Experience patching and supporting network equipment at the physical level
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certification or vocational training may be required
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required
  • Cable Technician experience
  • BICSI Certification – REQUIRED
  • Cat6A cabling
  • Copper and fiber cabling

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a related field preferred
  • 4–6 years of relevant experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair network and telecommunications cabling infrastructure
  • Terminate, test, and troubleshoot Cat6A cabling
  • Work with copper and fiber optic cabling, including testing and validation
  • Read, interpret, and execute work based on floor plans, diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Patch network equipment and support connectivity at the physical layer
  • Perform on‑site triage and troubleshooting to identify root causes of connectivity or infrastructure issues
  • Resolve issues independently using established procedures, tools, and standards
  • Coordinate with project teams and other technicians to support installations, upgrades, and expansions
  • Assist with task planning and execution for infrastructure‑related projects
  • Apply safety, quality, and technical standards consistently across all work
