Cable Technician

SBT GlobalTaylor, TX
Onsite

About The Position

Assist with the installation, adjustment, and change of copper layer-one network connections for technical systems under the supervision of a senior technician. Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot Category 5e/6/6a copper cabling for data infrastructure in a large enterprise environment. Properly comb, dress, and label copper cables in accordance with site and industry standards (TIA/EIA, ANSI/BICSI). Implement structured pathways per approved designs, accounting for the physical constraints of copper media (bend radius, pull tension, separation from EMI sources). Interpret and follow floor plan designs; escalate any deviations from plan to a senior technician in a professional and timely manner. Operate industry-standard copper test equipment (cable certifiers, tone generators, continuity testers) at a basic level and record results accurately. Work from a request / ticket system, taking assigned tasks from queue to completion. Document installation work clearly and contribute to the upkeep of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Support the network team on a regular basis (rack / de-rack network devices, assist during hardware replacements, participate in hotfix activity and change points). Support 24x7 data center and fab operation per on-call scheduling. Follow all on-site security protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, and company policies. Work effectively in a team environment.
