About The Position

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Myers, FL. The role involves installing, testing, and maintaining low-voltage cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling. The technician will be responsible for infrastructure build-outs, troubleshooting and repairing faults, and ensuring adherence to safety and documentation standards.

Requirements

Deep knowledge of low-voltage cabling systems and standard practices.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
Proficiency with crimpers, punch-down tools, and cable testers.
Ability to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
Experience with CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling.
Experience with termination and testing of copper and fiber connectors.
Familiarity with network infrastructure and structured cabling.
Understanding of safety procedures (OSHA, NFPA).

Responsibilities

Pull, route, and manage CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling through cable trays, racks, and conduits.
Terminate copper (patch panels, jacks) and fiber (LC, SC) connectors.
Test and certify links with equipment like Fluke analyzers.
Install racks, cabinets, cable pathways, and supporting hardware.
Troubleshoot, identify, and repair cabling faults and connectivity issues.
Adhere to all safety procedures (OSHA, NFPA), including safe use of ladders and lift equipment.
Label all cables and ports, and update documentation or as-built drawings.
