This role involves performing daily job duties such as cable installation, cable dressing, labeling, and material management for both copper and fiber optic cables. The Cable Tech 1 will be responsible for pulling cable, assisting Tech 2, running and handling materials, and utilizing hand and power tools. They will also be involved in the layout and installation of wireways, buss ducts, cable trays, switches, receptacles, and other devices. Building closets includes mounting and installing backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware, as well as installing grounding for racks, equipment, and cable. The position requires completing all IDC connections, such as terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels, and pulling wire or overseeing conduit installations. The role also involves operating tools and equipment that normally require two hands, such as cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jackhammers.
