About The Position

This role involves cable installation, dressing, labeling, and material management for both copper and fiber optic cables. The Cable Tech 1 will pull cable, assist Tech 2, run and handle materials, and utilize hand and power tools. Responsibilities include laying out and installing wireway, buss duct, cable tray, switches, receptacles, and other devices. Building closets involves mounting and installing backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware, and installing grounding for racks, equipment, and cable. The role also includes completing all IDC connections, such as terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels, and pulling wire or overseeing conduit installations.

  • Ability to sit, use hands and arms, communicate verbally, and occasionally stoop or kneel
  • Frequently required to stand and walk
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Must regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet
  • Ability to operate equipment such as scissor lifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, and UTVs (buggies) if required
  • Ability to work in tight and confined spaces

Responsibilities

  • Pulls wire and/or oversees and directs conduit installations and wire pulling
  • Operates tools/equipment, normally requiring the use of two hands (examples: cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers, etc.)
