About The Position

Hill Country Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (HCTC) is seeking a full-time Cable Splicing Technician to join our team. The selected candidate must reside in the Hill Country area or within a 90-mile radius. HCTC has been connecting the Texas Hill Country since 1951, when the cooperative was established to bring telephone service to underserved rural communities. Today, we provide high-speed broadband and telecommunications services throughout the region while continuing our cooperative tradition of investing in the communities we serve. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Must have a valid Class C Texas driver's license
If relocating to Texas from another state or country, must have a valid driver's license equivalent to a Texas Class C and obtain a Texas license within 30 days
Must maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under HCTC's standard auto insurance policy
Must have and maintain, or be able to obtain, a Class A Commercial Driver's License
Pole Climbing Certification (or ability to attain within 6 months of hire) required

Nice To Haves

2 years of relevant telecom construction experience preferred
Specialized skills training/certification may be required

Responsibilities

Splicing copper and fiber optic cables in indoor and outdoor environments
Installing copper and fiber terminals on various cable sizes
Managing slack and grounding cables in neat splice cases
Performing mid-sheath splices and assisting with construction lineman duties
Creating and interpreting splicing schematics and diagrams
Documenting staking sheets and supporting project timelines through inspections and design
Performing assigned cutovers
