About The Position

Agil3 Technology Solutions (A3T) is seeking an experienced Cable / Network Infrastructure Technician to provide installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and documentation support for the physical network infrastructure supporting the U.S. Government. The Technician will support copper and fiber cabling, network closets, patch panels, equipment racks, network devices, and associated infrastructure. The position will work closely with Network Engineers, Systems Administrators, and Technical Support personnel to maintain reliable network connectivity across the customer’s facilities.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of structured cabling, network infrastructure, telecommunications, or related technical experience.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Satisfy applicable DoD 8140/DCWF requirements for Work Role 442 at the Advanced proficiency level (Security+ or higher).
  • Experience installing and maintaining copper and fiber-optic cabling.
  • Experience terminating, testing, labeling, and troubleshooting network cabling.
  • Experience working with patch panels, equipment racks, network closets, wall jacks, and related telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Experience using cable testers, tone generators/probes, fiber-testing equipment, and related diagnostic tools.
  • Working knowledge of Ethernet and physical network infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and maintain network diagrams, cable schedules, floor plans, and technical documentation.
  • Basic understanding of network switches, wireless access points, VLANs, and LAN connectivity sufficient to support physical-layer troubleshooting.
  • Experience documenting infrastructure installations and changes.
  • Ability to safely lift, install, move, and position network equipment and associated hardware.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, documentation, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with Network Engineering personnel.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical/vocational training in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electronics, Networking, or related discipline.
  • BICSI Installer or Technician certification.
  • BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) exposure or experience working from RCDD-developed designs.
  • CompTIA Network+ or Fiber-optic installation or technician certification.
  • Experience with CAT5e, CAT6/CAT6A, multimode and single-mode fiber infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting Cisco network environments.
  • Familiarity with TIA/EIA structured-cabling standards.
  • Experience supporting data centers, telecommunications rooms, and network closets.
  • Experience with network cable-management and documentation systems.
  • Previous USMC, Navy, or other DoD network infrastructure experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, test, label, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain copper and fiber-optic network cabling.
  • Support structured cabling systems, including horizontal and backbone cabling, patch panels, equipment racks, telecommunications rooms, and network closets.
  • Install and maintain network drops, wall jacks, patch cables, and associated connectivity components.
  • Perform cable tracing, testing, certification, and fault isolation using appropriate equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve physical-layer network connectivity problems.
  • Assist Network Engineers with troubleshooting LAN/WAN connectivity and network infrastructure issues.
  • Install, relocate, connect, disconnect, and replace network equipment and associated cabling.
  • Support installation and replacement of switches, wireless access points, racks, patch panels, and other network infrastructure under appropriate technical direction.
  • Perform Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) involving network and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Maintain proper cable routing, dressing, labeling, bundling, and physical organization within telecommunications rooms and equipment racks.
  • Support fiber-optic connectivity, including installation, patching, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Inspect network closets and telecommunications spaces and identify damaged, improperly installed, unlabeled, or obsolete infrastructure.
  • Assist with network infrastructure modernization and technology-refresh projects.
  • Support removal and replacement of End-of-Life (EOL) and End-of-Support (EOS) infrastructure.
  • Assist with equipment Return Material Authorization (RMA) and replacement activities as required.
  • Maintain accurate cable records, port assignments, network closet documentation, diagrams, labeling, and infrastructure inventories.
  • Update drawings and documentation to reflect network infrastructure changes.
  • Coordinate infrastructure work with Network Engineers, Systems Administrators, facilities personnel, and other technical teams.
  • Create, update, and document infrastructure-related service requests and trouble tickets.
  • Follow applicable installation, safety, physical-security, and cybersecurity requirements while performing work.
  • Provide on-site infrastructure support for outages, projects, equipment installations, and other mission requirements.
