Our team is solving the world’s toughest security challenges for customers with “can’t fail” missions. This role is for a Cable Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and 8–12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6–10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task well.
  • Experience working with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and technicians to develop a build strategy and identify any problems that could occur during assembly.
  • Knowledge of the tools used for assembly (crimpers, strippers, insertion) and the proper techniques required to use these tools.
  • Basic experience reading mechanical assembly drawings, electrical schematics, and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Basic computer skills associated with these assembly tasks (such as retrieving the manufacturing documentation from the system, updating the system as router steps are completed, etc.).
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a final secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Costpoint Material Planning software and/or Windchill product lifecycle management software.
  • Experience with software that maintains bills of materials, and other engineering design data.
  • Experience with electronics used on launch vehicles, targets, or missile components, and with production of cable harnesses, electronics, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to provide Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates, Basis of Estimate (BOE) documents, and other documents used to support proposal efforts.
  • Experience in various quality roles.
  • Experience in using Manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Electronic component handling requirements and ESD procedures.
  • Current or prior certification to IPC/WHMA-A-620.
  • Knowledge of assembly and inspection requirements for Micro-D solder cups in cable assemblies.
  • Experience with leading, executing, and implementing automated equipment within a cable manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and ensure manufacturing processes/work instructions are simple, clear, robust, error-proofed, and repeatable.
  • Prepare process flows and assembly work instructions for assembly technicians using an MES system (i.e. Solumina).
  • Support the implementation of change orders and deviations.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities in support of developing procedures/work instructions that will lead to follow-on production.
  • Work closely with our quality team to develop processes that validate customer quality requirements.
  • Work closely with production control to meet desired delivery schedule of design team.
