Cable & Harness Technician
About The Position
SAIC is seeking a Cable & Harness Technician to support the US Navy in Indianapolis, IN. This role involves reading and following assembly prints, work instructions, drawings, procedures, and specifications for manufacturing Cables and Harnesses. The technician will diagnose and repair damaged or malfunctioning wiring harnesses, identify and rectify defects, and perform assembly tasks. Attention to detail, quality, and maintaining a safe work environment are crucial. The position also requires maintaining accurate material control, providing feedback to relevant parties, and following process documentation. A variety of tools may be used to perform tasks.
Requirements
- HS and five (5) or AA degree and three (3) years’ experience.
- Assembly/production experience and a strong mechanical aptitude.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in related field.
- Motivated and detail oriented.
- Excellent hand dexterity.
- Good eyesight and ability to distinguish color is necessary.
- Candidate must be a US Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Nice To Haves
- May occasionally perform duties in a standing, kneeling or squatting position.
Responsibilities
- Reads and follows assembly prints, work instructions, drawings, procedures and specifications used in the manufacturing of Cables and Harness.
- Diagnose and repair damaged or malfunctioning wiring harnesses, using a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Identify and rectify any defects or issues in the harnesses, such as miswiring, poor connections, or insulation damage.
- Identifies by sight workmanship and material defects in touch-up and assembly areas and may be able to suggest basic changes to the work instructions to improve operations in these areas.
- Performs tasks with a high degree of care / Quality and attention to details while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Assembles cables & harness assemblies, and adapters by working from samples, Technical Data packages, visual aids, wiring lists and Work Instructions.
- Maintains accurate material control within the work area.
- Participates in providing timely feedback to other operations, management and support engineering, as appropriate.
- Follows and maintains accurate process documentation.
- May use a variety of tools to perform tasks.
