About The Position

With direct supervision, learns and performs the basic skills and functions related to aircraft cabinet finish preparation and application processes using design and engineering drawings. This role is an entry-level position within the Cabinet Finish shop, focusing on developing technical competency and problem-solving abilities to allow progression to the technician level. The individual will use standard safety and operating procedures, design/engineering drawings, tools, and various materials to develop proficiency in furniture preparation and finishing. Additionally, the role involves using a material tracking system for parts demand, squawk tracking, and work sign-offs, while ensuring compliance with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, and protecting aircraft interiors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Wood working, wood finishing or auto body and painting experience in a technical environment
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs.
  • Able to work in small restricted areas.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to work any shift.
  • Must be computer literate.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Technical Certificate in cabinet making preferred.
  • Completion in current year youth apprenticeship program, in area of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Learns entry-level technical skills and knowledge, regulatory requirements, and tooling used in the Cabinet Finish shop.
  • Develops technical competency and problem-solving abilities to allow progression to the technician level.
  • Develops proficiency in the preparation and finish of furniture using standard safety and operating procedures, design/engineering drawings, tools, and materials such as sandpaper, polishes, adhesives, solvents, and masking mediums.
  • Uses the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off work.
  • Complies with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies.
  • Uses personal protective equipment.
  • Ensures aircraft interior is protected (PTP).
  • Assists in the development and implementation of related initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
