About The Position

Are you ready to turn wrenches, learn from some of the best in the business, and play a crucial role in keeping our fleet road-ready? As a C Tech Mechanic, you’ll be a key player in our shop. Working alongside experienced lead mechanics and shop leadership, you’ll help inspect, maintain, and repair our fleet of Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) heavy-duty vehicles. If you have a solid foundation in basic mechanics, an eagerness to learn, and a passion for heavy machinery, GFL is the place to build a long-term, high-powered career.

Requirements

  • At least 1+ year of entry-level mechanic experience or vocational/technical training in heavy equipment or diesel systems.
  • Basic knowledge of PM routines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and brake operations.
  • A strong desire to learn advanced diagnostics and take on more complex repairs over time.
  • Comfort using computers or tablets to log work orders and navigate diagnostic software.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred—or a willingness and ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire (we’ll support you along the way!).
  • ASE certifications or state inspection licenses are a big plus!

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, tire service, oil changes, and basic brake adjustments to ensure our trucks remain safe and compliant.
  • Work with senior mechanics to inspect steering mechanisms, engine components, brake systems, wheel bearings, and hydraulic systems.
  • Test drive trucks to help diagnose issues and verify that repairs are 100% complete and road-tested.
  • Connect diagnostic software to read codes, assist with troubleshooting, and log your daily work orders in our shop system.
  • Actively participate in hands-on training and development programs to sharpen your skills and prepare for your next step as a B Tech Mechanic.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work space while adhering to all OSHA, DOT, and GFL safety standards.
