About The Position

We are seeking a senior-level C++ engineer to help modernize a mission-critical retail application that has been in production for more than 30 years. This role is focused on understanding and transforming a large legacy system built on a proprietary file-based database platform. The ideal candidate has experience working with older database technologies, reverse engineering existing systems, and helping organizations migrate from legacy file-based databases to modern architectures. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving difficult modernization challenges and working with large, mature codebases.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of C++ development experience
  • Experience supporting and enhancing large legacy applications
  • Experience reverse engineering undocumented code and business logic
  • Experience modernizing or migrating legacy database platforms
  • Strong understanding of data structures, file formats, indexing, and storage engines
  • Experience analyzing and converting legacy data models
  • Ability to understand highly customized systems built over many years
