About The Position

The BYU Athletics Creative Content and Social Media Strategist will be responsible for managing the social media strategy for multiple teams within BYU Athletics. That management includes the ideation and execution of creative content for all the teams’ social media platforms. This position will work primarily with other social media strategists as well as video content creators, coaches/staffs, student-athletes, graphic designers, corporate sponsorships, marketing/fan experience, and communications to ideate and execute unique content for BYU Athletics while ensuring branding is consistent across all digital platforms. This position will also work on projects as assigned by their supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent combination of education/work experience in athletics social media
  • Willingness to uphold and live by the university's Honor Code
  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend, which may be verified during the application process.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute social media strategy for assigned teams and their various platforms
  • Ideate and create social media content for assigned teams and their various platforms
  • Execute “gameday” responsibilities for BYU Athletics
  • Develop content that showcases BYU’s student-athletes, coaches, and staff’s accomplishments, unique backgrounds, and experiences
  • Develop content that showcases the mission of BYU through an athletics lens
  • Work with supervisor, video content creators, graphic design, corporate sponsorships, marketing, and communications to strategize and execute social media content
  • Ensure branding, messaging and strategy is consistent across all platforms
  • Create and fulfill sponsored social media content for team social media platforms
  • Assist in executing other teams’ gameday responsibilities as assigned
  • Assist student-athletes and coaches in the development of their personal brand and social media strategy
  • Responsibilities may include planning and executing social content and strategy for influencer marketing on behalf of the Athletics department
  • Monitor the social media landscape for potential issues regarding BYU Athletics
  • Assist in training and developing student social media strategists
  • Build relationships within BYU-specific and national communities
  • Research best-practices to implement at BYU
  • Complete projects under strict time constraints and standards of excellence
  • Adhere to strict department confidentiality agreements
  • Track and analyze social content performance metrics
  • Present sponsored social media performance metrics to corporate sponsorship team
  • Assist in implementing best practices across the Athletic Department’s social media platforms
