About The Position

Free People is looking for Buying Interns to join us for the Summer with our Apparel and Accessories categories. Our Apparel and Accessories Buying Interns will support the daily operational functions within your designated buying area; offering your unique perspective, supporting the buying team in managing the overall merchandise selection, trend research and building key cross functional relationships with both the market and internal partners: distribution center, design, and production. The URBN 2027 Summer Internship Program will run from 6/7 through 8/13 at our Home Office in Philadelphia, PA. This is a paid internship program that also offers a summer full of intern-focused events, including exposure to senior leadership, insight into company initiatives, off-site field trips, and, for those who qualify, the opportunity to interview for a full-time position.

Requirements

Ability to prioritize projects and multitask
Rudimentary understanding of retail math
Detail oriented and creative thinker
Strong relationship building skills and ability to work cross functionally
Proficient in Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Trend Concept Board (8.5 X 11 PDF format is preferred) showing 3 – 5 fashion and accessories trends for the Free People customer in Fall 2027, pulling imagery from Streetwear, Pinterest, Social, runway, etc.
Must submit project at the time of application to be considered.

Responsibilities

Attend buying meetings regarding product selection, design, and style
Support the daily designated buying area and collaborate with the assistant or associate buyer on all necessary tasks
Brainstorm and research new products and trends within assigned category of the business
Managing samples/the flow of merchandise
Learn the product lifecycle and buying’s role in the process
