About The Position
Turing is seeking candidates with strong experience in procurement, supply chain management, and vendor negotiation to contribute to projects evaluating and enhancing AI systems. The role applies procurement expertise and analytical decision-making to real-world scenarios that test AI reasoning and help improve AI understanding of sourcing, forecasting, and data-driven purchasing across global supply chains. Prior AI experience is not required. Freelancers will design and solve procurement and supply chain scenarios, write structured solutions, evaluate AI responses, and collaborate with researchers. The engagement is a contractor assignment/freelance role. Projects are approximately one month long, with possible extension; the role may potentially be full-time. Compensation varies by project, and the work is fully remote. Turing prohibits the use or disclosure of confidential or proprietary information from employers or universities, trade secrets or internal data, specific client information or case details, and information that would violate confidentiality obligations such as NDAs or employment agreements.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience as a Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or Purchasing Agent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of supplier management, pricing strategy, and procurement systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Coupa.
- Comfort using web-based tools for data review and annotation.
- Strong English communication and analytical reasoning skills.
Responsibilities
- Design and solve real-world procurement and supply chain scenarios to test AI reasoning.
- Write clear, structured solutions covering supplier evaluation, cost analysis, inventory management, and contract negotiation.
- Evaluate AI responses for accuracy, efficiency, and strategic insight.
- Collaborate with researchers to refine AI understanding of sourcing strategies, market analysis, and purchasing workflows.
