About The Position

This Buyer position operates under the general supervision of the Sr. Purchasing Manager. The role involves initiating contact with suppliers of circuit breakers, contactors, switchboards, and electrical distribution products to procure items that meet Rehlko's specifications at competitive costs, adhering to the Rehlko Global Procurement Policy Manual. Responsibilities include conducting sourcing events to evaluate price, availability, lead time, and quality for a competitive advantage, awarding business based on supplier capabilities and total cost, and maintaining supplier records in SAP. The Buyer will also resolve invoice discrepancies, provide supplier performance feedback, and assist material planners with order follow-ups to ensure on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related program, or a related bachelor’s degree with successful completion of the CPM certification.
  • At least 2 - 5 years of purchasing experience required.
  • Manufacturing and electronics background a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead global sourcing initiatives from concept to completion, including project ideation, RFQ creation and execution, negotiation, data analysis, supplier reviews, internal cross-functional reviews, presenting sourcing council recommendations, contract creation/execution, and overall project management.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with internal teams and suppliers to source new and resource existing products under the guidelines of the global procurement policy manual.
  • Serve as an escalation point for supply constraints and own the overall supplier relationship.
  • Monitor and maintain costing files with Accounting, and hold vendors accountable in costing programs.
  • Actively initiate cost reduction programs and collaborate with suppliers, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Materials functions for successful implementation.
  • Request and review quotations for new and existing components, consulting with Engineering and Supplier Quality regarding specification deviations.
  • Recommend alternative materials or methods based on knowledge of market availability.
  • Provide management with recommendations for future sourcing strategies and supplier base consolidation.
  • Work with Supplier Quality to evaluate material rejections and effectively resolve disputes between departments and suppliers.
  • Utilize sound decision-making principles in conducting business that affects price variance, inventory levels, and quality levels.
  • Write, analyze, and issue various weekly, monthly, and annual reports and status updates.
  • Monitor and ensure on-time delivery targets are met, leading resolution for recurring delivery issues and supporting escalations.
  • Follow up and resolve late delivery issues, ensuring proper handling and delivery of rush orders.
  • Establish and maintain supplier stocking programs.
  • Maintain standard cost files.
  • Review all Engineering Notifications and drawings covering areas of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, such as attending meetings and participating in team assignments.
