About The Position

The Purchasing Agent position is responsible for buying required materials, services, supplies, and raw stock. This is accomplished through evaluating price, quality of material, quality of customer service and lead time to determine the best buying option. The role involves managing and maintaining vendor relationships and contracts, dealing directly with vendors on any quality issues, late deliveries, or improvements, and researching new vendors. The position is also responsible for methods of communication and delivery of purchase requests, maintaining and updating master files assigned in the operating system, and following both verbal instructions and internal procedures. The Buyer must maintain the highest standards specifically applied by the company for aesthetic values on both purchased parts and the internal environment, maintain constant communication with the supervisor about job progress, and keep the work area clean and maintained. Other tasks as assigned will also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • Successfully complete a criminal background check.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as business needs dictate.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills.
  • Previous Purchasing role in related industry.
  • Knowledge of supply chain in related industry.
  • Knowledge of quoting process for services in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of freight and parcel shipment.
  • Knowledge of Material Resource Planning systems.
  • Experience and proficiency with MS Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of JobBoss operating system is a plus.
  • Knowledge of vendor score cards is a plus.
  • Knowledge of machine tooling is a plus.
