About The Position

Interstate Wire is looking for a driven, dedicated Buyer to join our dynamic purchasing team. As a Buyer at Interstate Wire, you will play a key role in sourcing and purchasing raw materials, ensuring product availability, and maintaining cost efficiency for our manufacturing processes. You will work closely with suppliers, production teams, and other departments to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials required for our wire and cable manufacturing operations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
3–5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within manufacturing or the wire and cable industry.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for managing purchasing data and reports.
Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers and secure favorable pricing and terms.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess data, evaluate supplier options, and make sound procurement decisions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally with production, quality, and logistics teams.

Nice To Haves

Manufacturing industry experience is a plus; familiarity with wire and cable production processes is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Source and purchase raw materials, components, and supplies needed for the production of wire and cable products.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, and manage supplier performance.
Ensure suppliers complete all required setup paperwork and comply with Interstate Wire supplier policies.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production to ensure raw materials are available when needed while minimizing excess stock.
Identify cost-saving opportunities, negotiate pricing, and implement strategies to optimize procurement costs while maintaining product quality.
Analyze purchasing trends, supplier performance, and inventory data to make informed decisions and improve the procurement process.
Work closely with production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure smooth and efficient material flow.
Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and sustainability goals.
Address and resolve procurement-related issues, including supply chain disruptions and material shortages, to minimize production delays.
Perform other duties as assigned.
