About The Position
The Buyer is part of our Operational Purchasing team and will be responsible for flawless program launches, ensuring purchasing deliverables are met according to program timing and budget, negotiating product changes, supporting VAVE activities, BOM and sourcing tracking, preparing RFQs, negotiating and sourcing parts and tooling, supporting technical feasibility reviews, and representing purchasing in multifunctional program reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field
- 3-5 years of Automotive Purchasing experience required

- Experience with automotive soft trim or metals components desired
Responsibilities
- Flawless program launches
- Ensuring purchasing deliverables are met according to program timing and budget
- Negotiating product changes
- Supporting VAVE activities
- BOM and sourcing tracking
- Preparing RFQs
- Negotiating and sourcing parts and tooling
- Supporting technical feasibility reviews
- Representing purchasing in multifunctional program reviews
- Work with multiple functions within Adient (Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance) and influence without direct authority
- Clear understanding of supplier terms and conditions
- Negotiate (tactics, techniques, and strategies)
- Evaluate cost breakdowns to identify opportunities to reduce overall cost
- Gather information, analyze data, prepare and lead negotiations as well as deliver a recommendation
- Summarize complex issues and communicate to all levels of management
- Be successful working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
