Job Type: Full-Time – Current Vacancy Salary: $59,500 - $83,300 IMT Precision does not use artificial intelligence, automated screening systems, or algorithm-based decision tools in any part of the hiring process for this position. POSITION SUMMARY THE BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SOURCING, NEGOTIATING, AND MANAGING THE PROCUREMENT OF KEY COMMODITIES, MATERIALS, AND SUBCONTRACTED SERVICES TO SUPPORT PRODUCTION, ENGINEERING, AND OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS. THIS ROLE PLAYS A CRITICAL PART IN ENSURING ON-TIME DELIVERY, QUALITY, AND COST-EFFECTIVENESS WHILE MAINTAINING COMPLIANCE WITH COMPANY POLICIES, ETHICAL STANDARDS, AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. THE BUYER WORKS COLLABORATIVELY WITH INTERNAL TEAMS AND EXTERNAL SUPPLIERS TO OPTIMIZE PROCUREMENT PROCESSES, DEVELOP SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIPS, AND DRIVE CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT ACROSS THE SUPPLY CHAIN.

Requirements

Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
3-5 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or welding environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics
Knowledge of procurement principles, sourcing strategies, and supplier evaluation techniques
Knowledge of manufacturing supply chain processes and production support requirements
Knowledge of contract negotiation, pricing analysis, and cost management
Knowledge of quality management systems and supplier compliance standards
Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and data-driven decision-making tools
Strong negotiation and communication skills with focus on relationship building
Analytical and problem-solving skills for evaluating supplier performance and cost efficiency
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in documentation management and purchasing recordkeeping
Effective multitasking and time management in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines under pressure
Ability to apply critical thinking to resolve supplier or production challenges
Ability to adapt to changing business needs and evolving supplier landscapes
Ability to uphold ethical procurement practices and confidentiality in all dealings
Must be a Canadian Citizen or hold Permanent Residency.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, heat treatment, NDT, plating)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Familiarity with government procurement regulations

Responsibilities

Sourcing, negotiating, and managing the procurement of key commodities, materials, and subcontracted services to support production, engineering, and operational requirements.
Ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness while maintaining compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers to optimize procurement processes.
