About The Position

The Buyer takes an active role in procuring commodity materials for Saulsbury Industries projects. The role identifies potential suppliers, prepares inquiries, solicits and evaluates bids, addresses bid exceptions, and issues purchase orders. This is a full-time, in-person position in Odessa, Texas.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of purchasing or office administration experience involving various commodities and equipment for the oil and gas, refining, and/or petrochemical industries.
• Experience with purchasing best practices.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Professional, ethical, and team-oriented approach, with willingness to grow with the company.
• Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and work with changing priorities.
• Skill in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.

Nice To Haves

• Local candidates are preferred; relocation is not offered.
• Construction-related experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Expeditors and Project Managers to help ensure materials are delivered on schedule according to construction field need dates.
• Contribute to the formation, negotiation, and execution of material agreements and partnerships with supply chain vendors, as directed.
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and establish approved suppliers in the system.
• Interface with technical support personnel regarding material and equipment specifications.
• Provide data and support for implementing and monitoring key performance indicators to measure procurement department performance.
• Monitor supplier and market trends and inform departmental management about events that could affect supply, price, or delivery.
• Build and develop relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
