About The Position

GCG Custom Engineered Solutions is seeking a Buyer to join the procurement team at our Leominster, MA Cable Assembly facility. The Buyer will be responsible for planning and purchasing raw materials to support cable assembly operations. This role is crucial for ensuring material availability to meet production demand while maintaining optimal inventory levels, cost control, and supplier performance. The position requires close collaboration with internal teams and suppliers to manage demand, execute purchase orders, and ensure a consistent flow of materials. The work directly contributes to on-time delivery and overall operational efficiency. This is a hybrid role based in Leominster, MA, requiring in-office collaboration for daily operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in a purchasing, buyer, or materials planning role within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with MRP/ERP systems (Oracle strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of material planning, inventory control, and procurement processes
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills with both internal teams and external suppliers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard business applications
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, follow-through, and problem-solving

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchase orders from requisition through receipt, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with production requirements.
  • Procure raw materials, MRO, and services at optimal cost, quality, and lead time.
  • Monitor open orders and proactively manage delivery schedules to prevent shortages or disruptions.
  • Review MRP outputs in Oracle to plan and maintain appropriate inventory levels for assigned commodities.
  • Establish and adjust safety stock levels in alignment with production needs and business objectives.
  • Balance inventory investment with service level expectations to support efficient operations.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers, obtain quotations, and negotiate pricing and lead times.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in supplier performance reviews and support corrective actions as needed.
  • Partner with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to align material availability with manufacturing schedules.
  • Resolve material issues including shortages, quality concerns, and supplier discrepancies.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives and process improvements across the procurement function.
  • Maintain accurate data and transaction integrity within ERP and procurement systems.
