Position Summary The Buyer is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of assigned commodities in support of production and business objectives. This includes demand forecasting, placing purchase orders, managing suppliers, providing shop support, and inventory control.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and demand planning principles.
  • Experience placing and managing purchase orders in a manufacturing environment.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • 3+ years of purchasing experience is required.
  • US Person (Green Card Holder or United States Citizen) due to government contracts.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a business field is preferred.
  • A background working in the aerospace manufacturing industry is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Forecast material requirements based on production needs, demand plans, and historical usage.
  • Create and manage purchase orders.
  • Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met.
  • Evaluate suppliers by considering price, quality, availability, and other criteria.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with vendors.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and lead corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify and support cost reduction efforts.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory data within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Finance teams to resolve supply issues.
  • Maintain appropriate tact and diplomacy in dealings with coworkers and managers.
