About The Position

As a Buyer, you will play a key role in shaping unique retail experiences across our world-class properties. You’ll develop and execute innovative buying strategies for high-volume and specialty categories to drive sales, profitability, and brand success. You'll leverage data, market trends, competitive insights, and customer behavior to build compelling assortments that resonate with our guests while achieving financial objectives. This role offers the opportunity to negotiate exclusive products and vendor partnerships, manage inventory and merchandising strategies, identify growth opportunities, and influence cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional results.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have at least three (3) years of prior relevant experience in retail buying or an equivalent field

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all aspects of the buying process for a medium/high volume product category in support of the Retail and property strategic plans
  • Responsible for buying specialty categories
  • Creates a compelling assortment that will meet financial targets and support core property brand objectives
  • Analyzes historic data, trends, product assortment, and competition to develop the strategy
  • Analyzes current practices to identify business opportunities and in-season risks
  • Participates in the merchandising budgetary process for properties which includes inventory, sales, receipts, markdowns, turn, gross margin percent and weeks of supply
  • Evaluates current state of business to manage inventory in season, including driving markdowns and exit strategy in collaboration with corporate and property retail leadership
  • Negotiates exclusive offerings, terms, pricing, vendor funded markdowns, return-to-vendor agreements, and drop-ship programs
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with members of cross-functional teams and is able to influence them to achieve results
  • Maintains knowledge base of potential new vendors and product concepts
  • Develops target customer profile for properties through market data, competitive shopping analysis, and business trends

  • Understands and reacts to changing market trends to ensure competitive advantage
  • Supports and mentors' diversity vendors by communicating the vendor diversity certification process and vendor compliance to support MGM Resorts International’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives
  • Leads, mentors, and trains junior team members; makes performance recommendations as appropriate
