About The Position

Reata Engineering & Machine Works is a precision CNC machining and assembly company serving the medical, aerospace & defense, and semiconductor industries. We specialize in complex, tight-tolerance components and operate in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment. We are seeking a hands-on Buyer to support day-to-day purchasing and supplier coordination. This role is critical to keeping production on track—you will be responsible for placing orders, managing vendors, expediting materials, and ensuring on-time delivery. This is an execution-focused role with visibility into all areas of the business and opportunity to grow into a senior or leadership position.

Requirements

2–5 years of purchasing or buying experience (manufacturing preferred)
Experience with ERP/MRP systems
Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills (vendors + internal teams)

Nice To Haves

CNC machining or metal manufacturing environment
Experience with raw materials and outside processing vendors
Ability to read basic engineering drawings

Responsibilities

Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials (aluminum, stainless, specialty alloys), outside processing (anodize, plating, heat treat, etc.), and subcontract machining.
Ensure correct revisions, certifications, and requirements are included on POs.
Track open POs and confirm vendor delivery dates.
Proactively follow up on late orders and resolve issues.
Communicate delays and risks that impact production.
Work with existing vendors on pricing, lead times, and performance.
Support onboarding of new suppliers as needed.
Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality.
Help resolve material shortages and schedule conflicts.
Maintain accurate vendor and PO data in ERP.
Update delivery dates and notes based on vendor communication.
