About The Position

Buyer/ Planner works in the Warehouse department, reporting to the Warehouse Manager. This role is responsible for planning, material management, product life cycle, and purchasing for the warehouse. The Buyer will need to work closely with various departments, including A/P, inventory management, and manufacturing, to ensure all necessary materials and components are required, available, and used when needed. This includes aligning material availability with production demand, minimizing delays and disruptions in the manufacturing process of the company.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Excellent in written, interpersonal communications and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented and time management skills
  • Experience with customer/vendor processes, escalations and resolutions
  • Willing to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Expert Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Managerial experience preferred
  • Previous experience in production warehouse preferred
  • Knowledge of boating components or marine systems a plus
  • Spanish understanding and translation experience a plus
  • Epicor or comparable ERP system experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for purchase requirements and maintaining the integrity of MRP planning parameters including costing, lot size, lead times, & days of supply.
  • Demand analysis for executing MRP Action Messages (Signals) such pull-ins, pushouts, and
  • Partner with Engineering & Production to establish priorities, and issue / rework purchase orders to Suppliers while simultaneously maximizing utilization of existing inventory / minimizing Obsolescence.
  • Act as frontline supplier manager for the supply base related to product line
  • Provide material support through communications with suppliers and placing purchase orders according to MRP requirements
  • Analyze, understand, and convert MRP messages to raw material purchase orders and plans to meet production / forecasted demand.
  • Assist with Production planning via detailed schedule coordination with Production to minimize downtime and maintain acceptable efficiencies through the production process.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of purchasing and planning master data for assigned materials and products.
  • Understand and maintain the minimum necessary raw materials and assembly inventory and report on the status of inventory levels against inventory targets.
  • Maintain accurate item master data lead times, batch size, safety stock target, to ensure 100% system data accuracy at all times
  • Report on a regular basis to various sources on any project progress, cost savings initiatives, & improving Vendor and Partner initiatives.
  • Proactively seek out, assess and deliver cost and lead-time reduction opportunities and supply chain solutions.

  • Management of supplier performance including vendor reviews (SCAR), to include on time performance, quality issues, communication effectiveness, cost reduction and process
  • Additional duties as assigned.
