About The Position

As a Buyer, you will plan, organize, and coordinate the procurement of materials, equipment, supplies, services, and project-related items. You’ll maintain vendor relationships, manage quotes, monitor inventory levels, and ensure that all purchases support operational needs while meeting quality and cost standards. This role requires strong communication skills, great judgment, and the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2 years of purchasing experience
  • Experience working with MRP systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills
  • Ability to build productive vendor and internal relationships
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong judgment, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Customer-service-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lead or support team initiatives
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and adjust priorities as needed

Responsibilities

  • Quote and purchase commodities as requested
  • Stay up to date on market conditions, availability, and commodity pricing
  • Prepare quote specifications and solicit vendor responses
  • Analyze quotes to ensure conformity and select the most appropriate source of supply
  • Review reorder requisitions to maintain approved stock levels
  • Control inventory costs without jeopardizing part availability
  • Review purchase orders and determine appropriate procurement processes
  • Review invoices as needed
  • Expedite orders when necessary to avoid stock-outs or delays
  • Provide end-users with updates on part status
  • Resolve procurement issues for goods and services
  • Handle damaged shipments or deliveries
  • Review requirements and specifications on contracts and vendor terms
  • Interview vendors, evaluate capabilities, and monitor performance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
