About The Position

The Buyer is responsible for negotiating with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, and services. This role involves managing inventories of ingredients and packaging, forecasting, stock levels, and lead times to ensure timely arrival of materials. The Buyer will also develop new supply sources, establish account terms, and ensure compliance with safety and corporate guidelines. Collaboration with various departments such as Warehouse, Quality, R&D, Marketing, Sanitation, and Maintenance is crucial for this position.

Requirements

  • 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • High School Diploma
  • Negotiating skills.
  • Analytical abilities.
  • Organizational skills for efficient office control.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Solid decision-making skills.
  • Able to perform general office lifting and physical requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge and experience with MRP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiates with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, and services.
  • Manages inventories of ingredients and packaging.
  • Manages forecast, stocks, and lead times to assure on-time materials/ingredients arrival.
  • Develops new supply sources.
  • Establishes account/credit and terms.
  • Checks requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers.
  • Works closely with Warehouse to ensure proper supplies arrived.
  • Traces delinquent arrivals from Purchase Orders.
  • Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
  • Works with Quality to ensure standards are met and Kosher certification requirements are met.
  • Works closely with R&D and Marketing on sourcing materials for new product development.
  • Works closely with sanitation and maintenance on sourcing and purchasing of chemicals, cleaners, and solvents to maintain the facility.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as required.
