About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Buyer to join our team in Janesville, Wisconsin. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw materials, managing supplier relationships, negotiating pricing and contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to support production operations. The ideal candidate will have strong ERP system experience, a solid understanding of manufacturing environments, and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience purchasing raw materials, metals, or manufacturing components.
  • Strong vendor management and supplier negotiation experience.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Source, purchase, and manage inventory levels of raw materials and components required for manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality, cost competitiveness, and reliable delivery performance.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and supply agreements with suppliers.
  • Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and material costs to identify savings opportunities.
  • Create and manage purchase orders through the company's ERP system.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production planning to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to support business objectives.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints to ensure purchased materials meet required standards.
  • Resolve supplier-related issues involving quality, delivery, pricing, and material shortages.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement and supply chain performance.
