About The Position

Performance Foodservice, PFG’s broadline distributor, maintains a unique relationship with a variety of local customers, including independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. A team of sales reps, chefs, consultants, and other experts builds close relationships with customers — providing advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. The Performance team delivers delicious food but also goes above and beyond to help independent restaurant owners achieve their dreams.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
• 1 – 2 years Purchasing or related area

Nice To Haves

• Associates/2-year technical: Procurement, business management or related area
• 2-4 years of purchasing produce and/or perishables experience within foodservice industry
• Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP)

Responsibilities

• Attain targeted profit margins as determined by the company’s business goals.
• Maintain produce costing and pricing and ensure accurate purchase orders.
• Effectively implement buying/purchasing strategies such that produce is purchased in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.
• Manage protein inventory levels to the designated goal level.
• Effectively manage the disposition of obsolete produce inventory.
• Consult with vendors regarding current orders and new produce products.
• Initiate orders, schedule deliveries and process related paperwork and documentation.
• Provide product and pricing information to sales staff.
• Investigate produce product quality complaints.
• Complete special projects, as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
