About The Position

Purchase goods, materials, and services that meet or exceed organizational expectations for price, quality, and delivery. The Buyer serves as an interface between suppliers and Gentex departments, manages supplier relationships and performance, addresses supply risks, monitors market trends, and develops cost-reduction actions to meet favorable purchase price variance (PPV) targets. The role also maintains required purchasing documentation and complies with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
5–10 years of professional experience.
3–5 years of purchasing experience.
1–3 years of experience purchasing from international suppliers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Fluent English.
Knowledge of purchasing systems and procedures, purchasing technical knowledge, and ERP systems.
Planning, negotiation, and contract-management experience.
Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency and stressful situations.
Strong project-management skills.
Ability to maintain honesty, integrity, and confidentiality regarding company matters.
Compliance with company policies and procedures and safety regulations, and ability to perform duties safely.

Responsibilities

Purchase goods, materials, and services to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
Request and evaluate supplier quotations.
Perform purchase cost analysis using should-cost, competitive-bid, and/or cost-breakdown analysis.
Generate purchase orders that comply with company requirements.
Communicate about and mitigate supply problems that may affect business operations.
Act as the interface between suppliers and other Gentex departments.
Identify risks, develop mitigation solutions, and escalate when needed.
Monitor market trends and take actions favorable to Gentex.
Develop and implement cost reductions to achieve PPV targets.
Manage supplier relationships and maintain professional two-way relationships.
Monitor supplier performance, provide feedback, and drive supplier improvement actions.
Identify and assess new suppliers capable of meeting Gentex’s cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
Maintain required documentation and comply with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
