About The Position

The Buyer, Retail is responsible for developing initial visual expectations to highlight concepts and executing seasonal and in-season segmented assortments for assigned TCP and/or GYM product categories. This role owns product selection, vendor execution, and category-level financial performance while partnering closely with Planning, Design, Production, Allocation, and Sourcing to deliver compelling, profitable assortments for the TCP customer. The Buyer, Retail balances trend relevance, value, quality, and margin, while managing the line plan, OTB, and in-season business to achieve sales, margin, and inventory productivity goals across channels with good/better/best assortment strategies.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of retail buying or merchandising experience, preferably within children’s apparel, value retail, or specialty retail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field.
  • Strong product intuition with an understanding of TCP/GYM customer needs.
  • Solid financial literacy with the ability to interpret sales, margin, inventory, and OTB metrics.
  • Proven ability to manage a business through data, hindsight, and in-season analytics.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple seasons at once.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional partnership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, calendar-driven retail environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute seasonal line plans aligned to TCP/GYM brand strategies, customer needs, and financial targets for Retail Stores.
  • Select assortments leveraging historical performance, hindsight learnings, trend research, and customer insights for the channel.
  • Maintain strong understanding of the TCP/GYM customer, competitive landscape, and key trend drivers within the channel.
  • Own sales, margin, inventory, and markdown performance in season with planning support.
  • Partner with Planning to develop and manage forecasting, OTB flow, and buy quantities.
  • Monitor weekly sales, WOS, sell-through, and margin performance; take action to mitigate risk and chase opportunity.
  • Support in the execution of pricing, promotional, and markdown strategies in alignment with merchant and planning leadership.
  • Own purchase order management, production tracking, and on-time delivery for assigned businesses.
  • Partner closely with Global Merchandising, Planning, Production, Allocation, and Channel Marketing.
  • Participate actively in line reviews, milestone meetings, hindsight meetings, and business reviews.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with cross-functional partners to ensure seamless execution.
  • Conduct regular market trips to collect seasonal trend and competitor data to share with management and broader cross-functional teams.
