About The Position

The Kollmorgen business of Regal Rexnord is seeking a Buyer Planner in Radford, VA. This role is responsible for purchasing, planning, and inventory control activities for assigned product lines. The Buyer Planner coordinates cell buying, material planning, and inventory control activities to support the development and execution of production plans, while helping achieve on-time delivery, plant performance, and inventory objectives.

Requirements

  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel.
  • Oracle experience or strong understanding of ERP systems.
  • Strong lean manufacturing background.
  • Understanding of inventory management.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while remaining self-motivated.
  • Results-oriented approach to work.
  • Passion for applying Continuous Improvement tools.
  • 3 years of related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS degree in Materials, Supply Chain, Business Management, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Five years of experience in purchasing, planning, or scheduling in a manufacturing environment.
  • APICS or ISM certification, including CPIM or CPM.
  • Previous buying and planning experience.
  • Strong kanban management experience.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • History of meeting or exceeding KPI targets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day purchase order placement and maintenance, including launching, invoicing, return-to-vendor activity, expediting, and alignment of materials to the production schedule.
  • Coordinate delivery information for purchased parts within the assigned product line or cell.
  • Align supply chain activity to future customer demand.
  • Implement a forward-planning process to minimize purchased part shortages.
  • Drive the weekly shortage review process.
  • Implement materials best practices to improve efficiency.
  • Coordinate kanban management activities, including audits, sizing, corrective actions, and related follow-up.
  • Recommend corrective actions to improve and sustain inventory accuracy.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with Supplier Quality, Quality, users, vendors, suppliers, and others to determine the source of issues and support corrective action.
  • Serve as the first level of escalation for supply chain issues in the supported product line(s).
  • Assist in supplier negotiation efforts with the global sourcing team, including support for long-term contracts and alignment of supplier commitments with production needs.
  • Lead calls with key suppliers to confirm ability to meet product line needs.
  • Support sourcing of new parts and PPV/VAVE efforts in the assigned product line to meet business goals.
  • Lead projects in assigned areas as designated by the Materials Manager.
  • Improve processes in assigned area(s) by making them more automated and efficient.
  • Assist in initiatives that align the materials team with company goals.
  • Lead the development and implementation of planning systems for new products and product transitions.
  • Translate customer demand into an executable production plan.
  • Determine daily and hourly output requirements for production cells.
  • Track KPIs and other metrics and review results with the Materials Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
