About The Position

The Buyer/Planner I is responsible for supporting production planning, inventory management, material procurement, and supplier coordination to ensure customer demand is met efficiently and effectively. This entry-level supply chain role works closely with Manufacturing, Customer Service, Engineering, Warehouse, and suppliers to maintain material availability, support production schedules, and drive on-time delivery performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, planning, inventory management, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP systems is preferred.
  • APICS coursework or certification is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP), Master Production Scheduling (MPS), Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and Capacity Requirements Planning (CRP) activities.
  • Develop and communicate production schedules for assigned work centers.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with maintaining appropriate stock levels to support customer demand while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Review material shortages and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support timely resolution.
  • Maintain accurate planning, inventory, and item master data within the ERP system.
  • Track customer orders against inventory and communicate potential supply or shipment risks.
  • Create and manage purchase orders for assigned commodities and suppliers.
  • Follow up on supplier confirmations, shipments, and delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate with suppliers regarding pricing discrepancies, shipment updates, and order requirements.
  • Assist with supplier scorecards and supplier performance reporting.
  • Support special material purchases, documentation, receiving activities, and supplier communications.
  • Partner with Engineering on product and material requirements to support sourcing activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer service, inventory performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze planning and purchasing data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support reporting, forecasting activities, and ad hoc supply chain analysis.
  • Contribute to achieving customer service, inventory, and working capital performance objectives.
