About The Position

Sources materials and/or services to meet CSX operational requirements pertaining to MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operating) commodities. Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for the sourcing of major MRO asset categories, commodities, and services. MRO commodity procurement responsibilities include crew hauling, PPE, Office Supplies and Furniture, Amazon Business, Legal Services, crew packs, document services, Industrial Hygiene, janitorial services, tools, fasteners, chemicals, water/ice, signs, lighting, welding materials, utilities, electricity, gases, and direct vendor supply among others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • 1 or more years of experience in Purchasing/Procurement, Materials/Inventory Management, Finance, Operations, or experience relevant to the focus of this position
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 8 or more years of experience in Purchasing/Procurement, Materials/Inventory Management, Finance, Operations, or experience relevant to the focus of this position
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Communication skills
  • Knowledge of purchasing practices using traditional and non-traditional methods
  • Ability to build rapport with all levels of management and contract personnel

Responsibilities

  • Lead the cross-functional sourcing and procurement process (Strategic Sourcing and Supply Process) for MRO
  • Interface with internal customer to determine requirements and identify suppliers
  • Generate requests for information (RFX) or proposals. Evaluate bids and products to determine best solution for CSX
  • Negotiate contracts with potential suppliers. Shepherd the contract throughout the process
  • Manage purchasing workflow, including purchase orders, invoice discrepancies, and approvals
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities within the corporate environment as well as other business units
  • Identify qualified suppliers and monitor supplier performance
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and developments through proactive market research
  • Serve as subject matter experts on MRO needs
  • Serve as the primary contact for supplier representatives and manages relationships
  • Ensure contract language is consistent with corporate and legal policy
  • Manage quality (performance and/or product) and supply issues for MRO
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
