About The Position

Academy Sports + Outdoors is seeking a Buyer - Marine to focus on driving sales, managing inventory, and supporting strong category performance. This role involves leading category management processes, analyzing data, and aligning decisions with financial goals to shape strategies that influence customer experience and business outcomes. The Buyer will guide product lifecycles, negotiate vendor terms, and stay connected to market dynamics, collaborating with partners across merchandising, eCommerce, and sourcing to ensure information flow and initiative alignment. Each day will involve a mix of strategy, problem-solving, and hands-on execution.

Requirements

• 5+ years of retail or customer service experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex data
• Skill in managing multiple categories in a fast-paced environment
• Experience mentoring or coaching others
• Ability to develop strong vendor relationships
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• A team-first attitude; while your core duties are your priority, you're happy to step in wherever you're needed
• Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
• Ability to adhere to company policies and professional standards
