About The Position

Novanta is a global company that provides engineered components and sub-systems for mission-critical applications in healthcare and advanced manufacturing. They are seeking a Buyer III to procure goods and services cost-effectively and timely. This role involves developing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, managing inventory levels, implementing cost-saving strategies, and ensuring planning data integrity. The Buyer III will also mentor less experienced buyers and drive continuous improvement in supplier performance and cost reduction.

Requirements

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of purchasing, procurement, supplier management, supply chain management, and strategic procurement implementation.
  • Be able to demonstrate effective negotiation skills and experience collaborating with suppliers.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and procurement software tools.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
  • Synthesizes data into crisp and sound strategic insights and conclusions.
  • Takes a global and long-term perspective when making business decisions.
  • Able to navigate ambiguity and complexity in order to adapt quickly.

  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen supplier relationships through effective contract negotiation, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
  • Ensure that planning parameters within the procurement software system support lean inventory requirements.
  • Mentor less experienced buyers to ensure they are meeting performance expectations and developing their skills.
