About The Position

The Buyer II supports manufacturing operations by executing purchasing, supplier management, and cost control activities to meet operational and customer requirements. This role serves as a primary point of contact for assigned suppliers and commodities and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure material availability, quality standards, and cost objectives are consistently achieved. The Buyer II performs routine responsibilities independently while effectively identifying, resolving, and escalating complex issues to maintain continuity and efficiency across the supply chain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, logistics, or a related field required.
  • 3–5 years of supply chain, purchasing, or procurement experience required.
  • Working knowledge of purchasing, supplier management, and supply chain fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate within established parameters.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail‑oriented with a structured, execution‑focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently on routine tasks and collaboratively on complex issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint; Power BI a plus).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and escalate risks appropriately.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned suppliers to support quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Execute purchasing activities aligned with established sourcing strategies and contracts.
  • Maintain and administer schedule agreements and supplier contracts under manager guidance.
  • Monitor supplier performance and participate in corrective action and improvement efforts.
  • Support cost management initiatives, including price maintenance and cost‑reduction activities.
  • Coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and support new product introductions.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Quality to resolve material, delivery, or quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate system data to support planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Participate in project work related to supply chain improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
