About The Position

Texas Hydraulics is seeking an experienced Buyer II to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you'll take ownership of assigned commodities and supplier relationships while ensuring materials are available to support production, customer commitments, and business objectives. Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Planning, Quality, and Finance, you'll negotiate with suppliers, improve supplier performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and help drive continuous improvement across our supply chain. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of purchasing experience in an MRP-driven manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and multiple commodity groups.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of procurement best practices, inventory management, and supplier performance.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism when working with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Oracle experience is a plus).
  • APICS, ISM, or other supply chain certifications.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience participating in supplier audits and strategic sourcing initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing activities for assigned commodities in a high-mix, mid-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships focused on quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms within established authority levels.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction and value improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Planning, Quality, and Finance to ensure material availability and support business priorities.
  • Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and material transitions.
  • Monitor supplier performance, analyze purchasing data, and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Participate in supplier visits, audits, and performance reviews.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste, improve processes, and strengthen supplier performance.
  • Prepare purchasing reports, metrics, and documentation.
  • Exercise sound judgment while working independently and collaborating with leadership on strategic decisions.
  • Maintain the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in all supplier and internal relationships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
