About The Position

This entry-level Buyer position performs several job functions under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of state or local government purchasing experience is required.
  • Microsoft experience in Word and Excel is required.
  • Knowledge of current state and local government purchasing laws.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products, Incode purchasing and warehouse modules.
  • Skill in computer, word processing, spreadsheet software applications, technical writing and ability to communicate effectively and efficiently on a professional level including public speaking.
  • Ability to type 40 WPM accurately.
  • Good communication and organization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and certification by NIGP or NPI in governmental purchasing, or ability to achieve like.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all purchases are made in accordance with state and federal laws and the City of Conroe Purchasing Policy.
  • Interacting with vendors for the acquisition of items and to ensure delivery in a timely manner.
  • Communicating with department personnel and directors.
