About The Position

The Buyer I position negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers, and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use. Drives ongoing supplier optimization and continuous improvement. This position reports to the Manager EHS&S and Facilities and will be an on-site role in Nottingham, MD (part of the Baltimore Distribution Center).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years of experience using continuous improvement tools (e.g., Lean, DMAIC, Standard Work)
  • Working knowledge of purchasing processes, SAP systems (or similar)
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and demonstrated administrative skills
  • Strong sourcing, quoting, and supplier negotiation skills (LT, MOQ, pricing, packaging, PPV/PPC)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrated ability to operate within budget and cost frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders in SAP, including blanket/framework orders; communicate requirements to suppliers, expedite orders, resolve discrepancies, and serve as point of escalation for supplier issues
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels for facility and office supplies; monitor expenditures against budget; control cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and HSE-related activities
  • Apply Danaher Business System (DBS) tools (e.g., Standard Work, Visual Management, Kanban) to ensure sustainable results; communicate order status and lead times to Leadership and internal stakeholders
