About The Position

The Buyer I is primarily responsible for accurate and timely execution of daily purchasing activities. This role follows established processes and policies, supports internal stakeholders, and communicates with suppliers to ensure orders are placed and delivered as required. Responsibilities include creating, confirming and expediting purchase orders to ensure acceptable product delivery, as well as meeting customer requirements while maintaining proper inventory levels in all Packer Fastener locations. These duties will support the development and accomplishment of Packer Fastener’s Strategy and Vision while promoting our company swagger.

Requirements

• 2 years of related purchasing/procurement experience preferred
• Exhibits company Swagger
• Excellent phone etiquette with the ability to effectively communicate with vendors via phone, email, and in-person
• Provide knowledgeable answers to questions about product, pricing, and availability
• Work with internal departments to meet business and customer needs
• Must be a well-organized team player who can relate to employees at all levels of an organization
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

• Preferred computer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, as well as ERP-system experience

Responsibilities

• Work in conjunction with all Buyers and other staff to ensure a smoothly functioning department
• Interpret and determine appropriate inventory to purchase and stock via Netsuite software
• Start, build, and issue purchase orders to vendors following protocol
• Confirm purchase orders with accurate information and lead times
• Effectively interact with vendors to resolve issues and update statuses of purchase orders
• Communicate with Sales Department to discuss any issues or concerns with products or vendors
• Communicate with Procurement department on any problems concerning daily purchasing activities
• Learn how to submit and process quotes to and from vendors
• Ensure profitability while continuously striving for cost savings
