The Buyer Direct will be based in Columbia, SC reporting to Matt Smith. This role coordinates activities involved with procuring direct materials, components, and equipment. Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of procurement experience.
  • Working usage of Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • English language knowledge.
  • Data entry.
  • Ten-key.
  • Spreadsheet (PC).
  • ERP software.
  • Ability to read, research and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and acknowledges to questions from groups.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and apply mathematical operations.
  • Ability to apply common sense comprehension to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities involved with procuring direct materials, components and equipment.
  • Maintain relations with the suppliers.
  • Place orders for necessary raw materials and purchased parts according to the requirements of the production.
  • Receive and handle confirmations.
  • Check the purchase orders and modify them according to the changes in the production plan with the help of the Shortage List and the Open Purchase Order List.
  • Track shipments, urging them if needed.
  • Regular, weekly check of the stocks, avoiding overstock.
  • Minimize the risk of obsolescence with the help of the weekly check of the obsolete report.
  • Correspondence with the freight forwarders, warehouses, and in case organizing the transportation.
  • Deal with claims, settling debit and credit issues.
  • File and record all necessary documents.
  • Check the inventory of critical materials (personally if needed) according to the Shortage List.
  • Get in touch with the right warehouse personnel and have the discrepancy modified if there is any inventory discrepancies.
  • Handle purchasing data privacy.
  • Assure all active components according to production needs, in time, for the accord price in the request.
  • Review requisitions and MRP output.
  • Confer with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability and delivery schedule.
  • Order, reschedule and cancel material based on requisitions and MRP output.
  • Maintain procurement records such as items purchased, costs, delivery and inventories.
  • Manage supplier to price, delivery and quality expectations and escalate when appropriate.
  • Approve invoices for payment.
  • Investigate inventory levels.
  • Monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle.
  • Conduct quarterly supplier reviews.
  • Maintain procurement records, reports and metrics.
